We’re entering the most exciting months of the year for tech fans. While many are eagerly awaiting that shiny new iPhone 15 and perhaps more information about the Apple Vision Pro AR headset, our old-school VR fans are looking forward to the upcoming Meta Connect 2023 launches, and it’s for a good reason – Meta Quest 3. This year’s annual Meta Connect event is when we finally get an official, in-depth look at the company’s successor to the Today’s most popular VR headset, Meta Quest 2 (formerly known as Oculus Mission 2).
The event’s keynote will be presented by Meta CEO and Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg, although we expect “some very special guests” to appear as well.
Will former consulting CTO and beloved co-founder of ID software John Carmack make an appearance? It’s unlikely, but it would be a surprise for sure. In any case, we’ll have to wait and see who else shows up besides the Meta presenters we can expect.
Here’s exactly what we know about the Meta Connect 2023 event and what to expect this year.
Meta Quest 3 virtual and augmented reality headset

The most anticipated (and most anticipated) 2023 Meta Connect device virtual reality headset arguably this year) is apparently Meta Quest 3, the successor to the hugely popular game Mission 2.
Although the recent Meta finally revealed Mission 3 In all its glory, full details about the device, such as some of its specifications, are still being debated. But we hope to get all the information we need on Mission 3 During the event.

What we already know is – coming soon Mission 3 thinner and lighter than Mission 3has a new look with three pill-shaped camera modules at the front and a stronger focus on augmented reality (AR) rather than just (VR).
AR fans are enthralled with Mission 2The transition feature will be happy to know that the transition will have the above color Mission 3and perhaps visually sharper and clearer.
The Mission 3 is also getting a redesign and a more compact controller and charging dock for faster and more convenient charging, although the USB Type-C port is still there (as the dock won’t come with Mission 3but sold separately).
Although we still don’t have an official release date for Mission 3which we should do during the Connect event, currently our speculation is aiming for October 10th, based on a recent accidental leak by Amazon.
Price? It starts at $499 for the base model with 128GB of built-in storage. We can also probably expect a 256GB model for $100 more, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.
“A two-day virtual event focused on AI and virtual, mixed and augmented reality”
The high-end, AR-focused Quest Pro may not have lived up to Meta’s expectations, and we know for a fact that a “sequel” won’t come, but Mission 3 will clearly be its spiritual successor.
It’s clear that Meta wants people to start looking at its headsets as not just VR gaming devices, but potential AR productivity devices as well. With that in mind, and based on Meta’s marketing for the upcoming Connect event, we can expect many new AR experiences to launch, along with Mission 3 it’s him.
Meta says that AI (artificial intelligence) will be another focus of the event, which is not surprising after the explosive explosion in popularity of ChatGPT, followed by Microsoft’s quick integration it into its search engine and services, with Google trying to quickly create competitors.
So what are Meta’s plans for AI and more specifically – what are Meta’s plans for integrating AI with AR and VR? We’ll find out during the Connect event, but at the very least, it would be nice to have a virtual assistant built in Mission 3ARE NOT?
