Meta will release Meta Quest 3 in two weeksand everyone in the community was excited about it. The problem is that there is no more room for surprises because We already know everything about it.
Meta teased some details in June ahead of the Apple Event and During these weeks we have had all the information revealed through leaks and rumors. The only thing left for me to discover are the technical specifications, but today while browsing the VIRTUAL REALITY community on Facebook I found that they were also leaked by UnboundXR. Looking at the cached page on Google for the Quest 3 listing, it can be seen that they have written all the specifications on their website. And since they have all the renders of the (yet to be announced) Quest 3 accessories, it’s clear they’ve got access to all the information about the new headset, so the information on the site it must be trustworthy.
So let me summarize what we know from all these rumorskeep in mind that this is not 100% confirmed information, but I can say that we are almost certain about it.

(RAM size doesn’t show up in the cached copy of the UnboundXR list, but according to this Reddit thread, it does show up at a certain point)
The specs talk about an interesting upgrade from the Quest 2. On the VR side, it’s nothing noteworthy, but an interesting linear update. Special, I’m very curious about the next generation Qualcomm chip: I want to know how much the Quest content can upgrade the graphics. We often complain about the potato quality of Quest games, and I wanted to see how big the visual change would be with this headset.
Of course, Meta’s biggest draw is its mixed reality support, with high resolution camera and depth sensor to perform environmental scanning. I’m a big fan of mixed reality, but I’m not entirely sure how many normal people are interested in it (I wrote about it in this other post). I guess it will all depend content that Meta and its partner studios can create using it. Resolution Games has revealed that it is dedicating a lot of resources to mixed reality content and this is great news in this sense.
Open the box
Available online full unboxing video of the headphones, which you can see here below:
You can see, The packaging is nothing fancy, but it works. The box contains the headset, two controllers, and a small box that could hold some accessories (I’m guessing a USB cable and maybe a charger)
Price and release date
The base version (128GB) of Meta Quest 3 will be released for $499, while the higher storage version (512GB) will cost $599. Considering the leaks on Amazon and MediaMarkt, the device is likely to be available starting October 10, 2023. Pre-orders will likely begin on Connect day, which is September 27.
Accessory
Meta will sell the usual expensive accessories for this headset. Thanks to the same leak (reported by Road To VR), we can estimate that the accessories will be:
- Meta Quest 3 Silicone face interface (Black) for $39.99
- Meta Quest 3 Cans for $59.99
- Meta Quest 3 The Elite strap has a battery for $119.99
- Meta Quest 3 Charging stand for $119.99
Interestingly, UnboundXR has published images of these items. And from there, it can be seen that Meta has tried to solve the problems it encountered in Quest 3 with the accessories of its other devices.
I can realize this when looking at the image of the charging dock. I have a Quest Pro and my experience with the charging dock was horrible: you have to slightly move the headset and controller while they’re on the base until they hit the right magic spot to make them charge. With this new charger, instead there are several specific stands for both the headset and controller: it looks like the charger has been researched so that you can place the elements in a single, correct way to get them to charge. This is a much needed upgrade.
What’s the surprise?
Here’s a list of things we already know about Mission 3. Like I said, take all of this with a grain of salt, but I’m pretty confident that these leaked information is true. In this case, we already know everything about headphones and in my opinion, Zuck should just go on stage and say “Well, you already know everything” and then leave the stage, closing Meta Connect after 25 seconds.
What I hope to see is a few surprises, possibly because some of the above information is not accurate. Or even better, I hope to surprise in terms of content. Will GTA VR finally launch? Is there any other AAA content in the works? How is Meta working to make mixed reality appealing to the average consumer? Will Meta move away from gaming and orient Quest 3 towards more general-purpose use? This is why I will still be tuning in on September 27th to see what Zuggity will be about! And you?
