In a completely fortuitous move, Amazon in the UK has slashed the price of the Meta Quest Pro by £220. This brings the mixed reality headset to the lowest price we’ve ever seen in the US or UK, to £779.50. This sale appears to be exclusive to Amazon in the UK, as we can’t see it in the US store and it doesn’t appear at any other retailers.
This big discount is somewhat surprising, since pretty much the only time we see price cuts on the best VR headsets is during major sales events like Prime Day and Black Friday. While the Quest Pro launched in October 2022 with a rather ridiculous price tag of £1,499, it’s already in the £900 to £1000 range after lukewarm initial reviews and demand for Metaverse’s Zuck is non-existent. In our Meta Quest Pro review, we found it wasn’t worth the money as a pure gaming headset, and while we still wouldn’t recommend it based on numerous privacy concerns, the This price is a significant deal for those who have a Quest Pro on their wish list.
There’s a bit of a caveat to this deal, though, as Amazon’s listing says there are only two left in stock. We know that these things are wrong and inaccurate at times, but if you want to get your hands on a Quest Pro for less, it might set your heart on fire.
Some people may be surprised to see that Quest Pro is still supported, as false rumors spread online that Quest Pro had been discontinued recently. After one of the parts suppliers told the media that they were no longer receiving orders for Quest Pro parts, news abounded that the Quest Pro was no more. Back when the news broke, we looked into it and discovered that Meta Quest Pro had not been discontinued, despite many reports to the contrary.
Either way, if you’re in the UK and love the Quest Pro, that sale price should appeal to you, or maybe even point towards what’s to come for Meta Quest 2 Black Friday deals.
The Meta Quest Pro is not my favorite device. Actually, that’s a bit generous. By far, of all the reviews I’ve done for GamesRadar+, Meta Quest Pro scored the lowest of them all. Regardless of your thoughts on privacy, social networks, and giant corporations having access to your personal data, Quest Pro will ask you the question “How much is too much?”
It’s one of the few cases where I think such an amazing, impressive new technology, would make humanity worse off if it were more widely adopted. The Metaverse’s failures suggest I’m probably not the only one who thinks so, but even if I seem a bit extreme, countless other lukewarm reviews of the Quest Pro as a practical headset The mixture will tell you all you need to know.
If I put aside privacy concerns and dislike of Mark Zuckerberg and think of the Quest Pro as a gaming device, I still think you can get a better headset for less if you use the Quest 2 or even something like the PSVR 2. The Quest Pro’s battery life leaves a lot to be desired, and while it’s comfortable and has great controls, it falls short of being a great device. Focus on gaming.
If you really want a high-end VR headset that’s capable of light gaming and has many of the features that the Apple Vision Pro demonstrated, the Quest Pro is a really good choice, especially if you have the opportunity to pay less. much more for it. Despite my concerns, I’ll give it credit – the Quest Pro already has so many impressive features that Apple makes it seem completely new. Great innovators, and Apple is not, because the people at Oculus paved the way for Vision Pro, especially Quest Pro. If you want the features of the Apple Vision Pro with more privacy concerns, less hardware power, and a fraction of the cost, go for it.
